BTTF and Première Vision SA Sign MoU to Boost India–France Fashion Collaboration
  • Bharat Tex Trade Federation (BTTF) and Première Vision SA signed an MoU at the Première Vision Paris exhibition to strengthen India’s integration with the global fashion and textile ecosystem.
  • The partnership will enhance market access, export promotion, sustainability, knowledge exchange, and heritage craftsmanship through a Joint Steering Committee.
  • It comes after the India–EU FTA negotiations (2026), which are expected to provide zero-duty access for most textile and apparel exports, improving India’s competitiveness in Europe.
  • The collaboration will connect Indian manufacturers, designers, exporters, and artisans with international buyers and premium sourcing networks, boosting exports and innovation in the textile sector.

GeM Opens Procurement Channel for Recycled Textile Products
  • MoU Signed: Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and the Textiles Committee signed an MoU to promote procurement of recycled and upcycled textile products through government purchasing.
  • Objective: Create a ‘Waste-to-Value-to-Market’ ecosystem by converting textile waste into certified value-added products for public procurement.
  • Certification: The Textiles Committee will identify, verify, certify eligible producers, develop technical standards, conduct capacity building, and support market research.
  • GeM’s Role: GeM will introduce dedicated product categories, onboard sellers, and provide market access to government buyers.
  • Key Beneficiaries: Women entrepreneurs, MSMEs, artisans, recyclers, and local enterprises engaged in the circular economy.
  • Significance: Promotes sustainable public procurement, circular economy, textile waste management, and expands market opportunities for eco-friendly products.

  • National Rank: Chhattisgarh secured first position nationally in JSJB 3.0, emerging as a leader in rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge and community-led water conservation.
  • Performance: The state registered 79,775 water conservation structures, of which 77,719 were completed. Five districts—Surajpur, Mahasamund, Balod, Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara and Kabirdham—featured among India’s top 10 districts.
  • Community Model: The initiative originated in Koriya district, where farmers voluntarily dedicate about 5% of agricultural land to rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge. Gram Panchayats, Jal Sakhis, Jal Mitras and communities drive implementation.
  • About JSJB: Launched in September 2024 by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, JSJB promotes low-cost recharge, water-storage structures and revival of defunct borewells.
  • JSJB: Catch the Rain: Launched on 1 June 2026, it integrates JSJB with Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain, focusing on locally suitable conservation measures and climate resilience.

Estonia Elects Ülle Madise as New President
  • Election: Estonia’s parliament, the Riigikogu, elected constitutional lawyer Ülle Madise as the country’s seventh President. She will serve a five-year term and is the second woman to hold the office.
  • Background: Madise, 51, has served as Estonia’s Chancellor of Justice (human rights ombudsman) since 2015. She was elected unopposed after no rival secured sufficient parliamentary backing.
  • Predecessor: She succeeds Alar Karis, who did not seek a second term. Kersti Kaljulaid was Estonia’s first female President.

KSSL, Thales Sign Pact to Produce 70-mm Rocket Systems in India
  • Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), the defence arm of Bharat Forge, and Thales Belgium signed a Strategic Alliance Agreement to collaborate on the production of 70-mm (2.75-inch) unguided and laser-guided rocket systems in India.
  • The partnership supports local manufacturing, testing and integration of combat-proven rocket systems already used by the Indian Armed Forces, advancing the Make in India initiative.
  • Thales will provide technology and expertise, while KSSL will leverage its manufacturing capabilities and qualified supply chain.
  • The collaboration strengthens India–Belgium defence cooperation, enhances operational readiness of the armed forces, and supports India’s goal of becoming a global defence manufacturing hub.

India Launches Agentic AI Skilling Initiative
  • Key Development: NIELIT, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with Intel India, launched the India Agentic AI Skilling Initiative to prepare students, professionals and educators for the growing use of Agentic AI.
  • Objective: The programme aims to expand access to industry-aligned AI learning and build a future-ready AI talent ecosystem.
  • Programmes: It introduces ‘Agentic AI for Everyone’, covering workflow automation, AI agents and multi-agent systems through hands-on, no-code learning, and ‘Engineering Agentic AI Systems’ for advanced technical skills.
  • About Agentic AI: It is an advanced form of AI capable of setting goals, planning and executing tasks autonomously with minimal human intervention, unlike conventional AI that mainly responds to commands or analyses data.

Punjab Launches ‘Pehchaan’ Portal to Identify Unidentified Deceased Persons
  • Punjab has launched ‘Pehchaan’, a digital public portal to help families identify unclaimed and unidentified deceased persons kept in government mortuaries across the state.
  • Details, including facial photographs, tattoos, birthmarks, deformities and physical descriptions, are uploaded within 48 hours of the postmortem.
  • Online claims are automatically forwarded to the concerned Police Investigating Officer for verification and further action.
  • The portal covers all 23 districts and 346 government hospitals and is free to access through the Punjab Health Department’s official websites.
  • The initiative aims to reunite families with missing relatives and address the 5,000–6,000 unidentified deaths reported annually in Punjab.
