Recently, Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan launched 41 new books under PM YUVA (Young, Upcoming and Versatile Authors) 2.0 Scheme

About PM YUVA 2.0 Scheme

  • Ministry: Launched in 2022 by Ministry of Education as part of India@75 Project (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav).
  • About: It is an Author Mentorship programme to train young and budding authors below 30 years of age.
  • Aim: To promote reading, writing and book culture in country, and project India and Indian writings globally.
  • Implementing agency: National Book Trust (NBT), India, under the Ministry of Education
  • It ensures phase-wise execution of the Scheme under well-defined stages of mentorship.
    • The books prepared under this scheme are being published by NBT, and also translated into other Indian languages ensuring the exchange of culture and literature, thereby promoting ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.
    • The selected young authors under it also interact with some of the best authors of the world, participate in literary festivals etc.
  • Significance: It helps to develop a stream of writers who can write on subjects to promote Indian heritage, culture and knowledge system.
