Two new girl child welfare schemes for Tripura, namely Mukhyamantri Balika Samridhi Yojana and Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana were launched. These schemes aim to promote financial security and educational empowerment for female children in the state.
Mukhyamantri Balika Samridhi Yojana (MBSY)
- Under this scheme, the Tripura government will deposit a one-time bond of ₹50,000 for every girl child born in Antyodaya families (economically weaker sections).
- When the girl turns 18, she will receive the matured amount, which is expected to be between ₹8–10 lakh, ensuring her financial security.
- Objective: To secure the future of girl children from economically weaker sections by providing long-term financial assistance.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a permanent resident of Tripura.
- Must be a girl child from an economically weaker section.
- Must have a bank account linked to Aadhaar.
Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana (MKAY)
Under this scheme, the Tripura government will provide scooties to 140 meritorious girl students who secure top grades in Higher Secondary Board exams.
The scheme applies to students from all boards, including:
- Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE)
- Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
- Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE)
