Ministry of Rural Development has approved projects for Tripura and Odisha under the connectivity component of Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN). These projects aim to provide all-weather road access to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) and foster inclusive development in remote regions.
Sanctions under PM-JANMAN
Tripura:
- 25 roads measuring 84.35 km, sanctioned at a cost of Rs 76.47 crore.
- Previously approved: 42 roads of 118.76 km, costing Rs 114.32 crore.
Odisha:
- 26 roads (63.27 km) and 02 Long Span Bridges (LSBs), sanctioned at Rs 69.65 crore.
- Previously approved: 66 roads (211.14 km) and 04 LSBs, costing Rs 219.40 crore.
Project Significance
These connectivity initiatives will:
- Ensure all-weather access to remote PVTG habitations.
- Enhance access to education, healthcare, and markets.
- Stimulate economic activity, trade, and employment in tribal regions.
- Bridge the rural-urban divide, improving mobility and livelihood opportunities.
- Contribute to the socio-economic upliftment of PVTGs.
- Align with the government’s goal of Viksit Bharat through inclusive growth.

- Launched in 2023, the scheme targets 75 PVTG communities across 18 States and 1 Union Territory.
- Implemented through 11 interventions by 9 Central Ministries.
- Total budgetary outlay: Rs 24,104 crore (Central share: Rs 15,336 crore, State share: Rs 8,768 crore)
