Himachal Pradesh Launches e-Kalyan Portal for Pensioners

Himachal Pradesh Government launched the e-Kalyan Portal under the Department for Empowerment of Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, Minorities, and Specially Abled (ESOMSA).

It is aimed at providing online application facilities for various pension schemes run by the Directorate of ESOMSA. Developed as part of the Him-Parivar portal initiative.

Key Features of e-Kalyan Portal

Allows eligible residents to apply online for pension benefits without visiting government offices.

Applications submitted directly by individuals or via Lokmitra Kendras (citizen service centers).

Digital updates on application status (errors, verification, approval) sent to applicants to enable real-time tracking from home.

Designed to reduce paperwork, in-person visits, and bureaucratic delays.

Integrated with key databases such as:

  • Him Bhoomi (land records)
  • Him Parivar (family database)
  • Aadhaar
  • PDS ration card system

About Pension Schemes in Himachal Pradesh

  • Currently 8 pension schemes are operational in the state for vulnerable sections.
  • ₹1,410 crore spent in the last financial year, benefiting over 8.24 lakh people.
  • State government Plan to add 37,000 new beneficiaries in the current financial year, with an additional expenditure of ₹67 crore.
