Defence Forces Vision 2047 Roadmap Released

The Ministry of Defence released the vision document titled “Defence Forces Vision 2047: A Roadmap for a Future-Ready Indian Military”. The blueprint has been prepared by the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) to transform India’s armed forces into a modern, integrated and technologically advanced military aligned with the national goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

  • It outlines strategic reforms, capability development and institutional transformation required to prepare India’s military for the evolving geopolitical, technological and security environment.

Key Pillars of Defence Forces Vision 2047

Integrated and Multi-Domain Military Capability

  • It proposes the transformation of India’s armed forces into an integrated and agile force capable of operating across multiple domains, including land, sea, air, cyber and space.
  • This approach will strengthen the military’s ability to deter adversaries and respond effectively across the full spectrum of conflict.

Greater Jointness Among Armed Forces
