India Receives First Batch of NEGEV 7 LMGs under Make in India

India has received first batch of 2,000 NEGEV 7.62×51 Light Machine Guns (LMGs), in a major boost to India’s infantry modernisation and defence indigenisation. The weapons are being manufactured in India by PLR Systems, a joint venture between IWI and Adani Group.

This delivery marks the beginning of a 41,000-unit order signed in August 2024, with 4,000 more units expected later in 2026, reflecting India’s push under Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. Around 50% indigenous production in India.
