The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment launched upgraded Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) 2.0 App– a centralised digital tool for States, Districts, and stakeholders to facilitate real-time reporting, monitoring, and coordination under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) at national, state, district, and institutional levels.
About Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA)
Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) was launched on 15th August 2020 by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment in 272 identified most vulnerable districts. It was extended to all districts of the country with effect from 15th August 2023. The mission aims to spread awareness about substance use among the masses.
Key achievements so far: Over 26+ crore people sensitised including 9.5+ crore youth, 6.47+ crore women, and 28,000+ Nasha Mukti Mitrs (formerly Master Volunteers) through more than 8.3 lakh activities across educational institutions and communities nationwide.
About NMBA 2.0 App
The app supports States, districts, spiritual organisations, and stakeholders in uploading and tracking activities through a consolidated dashboard with near real-time visibility. It also provides IEC (Information, Education & Communication) materials, supports Nasha Mukti Mitr onboarding and management, enables pledge-taking activities, and offers access to de-addiction and MANAS helplines.
New Features in NMBA 2.0
- Citizen access: e-Pledge, IEC material, helpline support and de-addiction centre details now accessible to general public
- Dedicated access for Grant-in-Aid Institutions (GIAs): Role-based access enabling real-time reporting and monitoring at de-addiction facilities
- Real-time Anudan (Grant) status: Accessible to DoSJE, States/UTs, and GIAs — ensuring transparency and streamlined fund tracking
- ‘Nearest De-addiction Centre’ feature: Enables quicker referral and improved access to treatment services
- Feedback Mechanism: Allows public to share feedback for continuous improvement
