Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan: New Chief of Western Naval Command

Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan has assumed charge as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C) of the Western Naval Command in Mumbai, succeeding Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan.

The change of command took place during a ceremonial parade at INS Shikra, where he was accorded a guard of honour, marking the formal transition of leadership.

Western Naval Command:

It is the principal striking arm of Indian Navy, responsible for guarding India’’s western maritime frontier and vital sea lines in the Arabian Sea and strategic waters in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). It is also responsible for protecting India’s maritime borders, offshore energy assets, and trade routes.
