AI Initiative Expands Ayurveda Research into 13 Languages

Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) under Ministry of AYUSH has signed an MoU with Anuvadini AI, a platform developed by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), with aim to:

  • Translate research into 13 regional languages (including Hindi)
  • Focus on bridging linguistic barriers and reducing misinformation
  • Promote inclusive and accessible healthcare knowledge dissemination
Objectives of Initiative

The collaboration aims to:

  • Expand access to evidence-based Ayurveda knowledge
  • Ensure credible, research-based Ayurveda information reaches all citizens
  • Promote science-backed traditional medicine
  • Enhance public awareness and understanding of Ayurveda
  • Support equitable access across linguistic and regional diversity
About Anuvadini AI

Anuvadini AI is an AI-based translation platform that:

  • Translates technical, scientific, and governance content
  • Supports multiple Indian and foreign languages
  • Ensures accurate dissemination of knowledge using AI tools

It plays a crucial role in democratising knowledge access in India.

About CCRAS

The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences:

  • Has a network of 30 institutes across 25 states
  • Conducts scientific research in Ayurveda
  • Publishes the CCRAS Bulletin (quarterly journal) and IEC materials

Currently, most research is published in English, which this initiative aims to overcome.

Other Related Initiative (Manuscript Preservation)

In January 2026, CCRAS collaborated with Central Sanskrit University to conduct a 15-day transliteration workshop in Kerala.

Key outcomes:

  • Training in manuscriptology, palaeography, and Ayurvedic terminology
  • Focus on scripts: Grantha, Vattezhuthu, Medieval Malayalam
  • 5 rare Ayurvedic manuscripts transliterated, including:
    • Dhanwanthari Chinthamani
    • Dravyashuddhi
    • Vaidyam
    • Roga Nirnaya
    • Vividharogangal

This supports digitisation and research of classical Ayurvedic knowledge.
