EPFO Records Highest Net Additions in June 2025

Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) reported its highest-ever net payroll addition of 21.89 lakh members in June 2025, since payroll data tracking began in April 2018. This reflects a 9.14% increase month-on-month (compared to May 2025) and 13.46% growth year-on-year (compared to June 2024). The data indicates increased formal employment, higher female participation, and greater awareness of social security benefits among workers.

Key Highlights of EPFO Payroll Data (June 2025)

Net Additions

  • 21.89 lakh members added in June 2025 → highest ever since April 2018.
  • Growth: +9.14% MoM (vs May 2025) and +13.46% YoY (vs June 2024).

New Subscribers

  • 10.62 lakh new subscribers joined → +12.68% MoM, +3.61% YoY.
  • Reflects better job opportunities, rising awareness of benefits, and EPFO’s outreach success.

Youth Employment (18–25 years)

  • 6.39 lakh new subscribers (60.22%) of total new additions were in 18–25 years age group.
  • 9.72 lakh total payroll addition for this group in June 2025 → +11.41% MoM, +12.15% YoY.
  • Indicates dominance of first-time job seekers entering the formal workforce.

Rejoined Members

  • 16.93 lakh members rejoined EPFO (after job changes).
  • Growth: +5.09% MoM, +19.65% YoY.
  • Opted to transfer accumulations instead of final withdrawal → ensuring long-term financial security.

Female Membership Growth

  • 3.02 lakh new female subscribers in June 2025 → +14.92% MoM, +1.34% YoY.
  • 4.72 lakh net female payroll addition+11.11% MoM, +10.29% YoY.
  • Shows rising female participation in the workforce → move toward inclusive employment.

State-wise Contribution

  • Top 5 States/UTs = 61.51% of total additions (13.46 lakh).
  • Maharashtra leads (20.03% share).
  • Other major contributors (>5% each): Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana.
