The India AI Impact Summit 2026 was held from 16–21 February 2026, marking a significant milestone in global discussions on responsible, inclusive, and development-oriented Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Guinness World Record Achievement

During the Summit, India achieved a Guinness World Record for the: “Most pledges received for an AI responsibility campaign in 24 hours.”

  • Over 2.5 lakh validated pledges were recorded.
  • The campaign reaffirmed public commitment to responsible AI adoption.

Expansion of India’s AI Infrastructure

A major announcement at the summit was the expansion of India’s sovereign AI compute capacity under the IndiaAI Mission.

  • 38,000+ GPUs already provisioned
  • Additional 20,000 GPUs to be added soon

This expansion will strengthen India’s national AI infrastructure and computational capabilities.

  • Voluntary Guiding Principles for Reskilling in the Age of AI: Endorsed by 23 countries.
  • Charter for the Democratic Diffusion of AI: Supported by 22 countries and international institutions.
  • Resilient AI Challenge: Launched with UNESCO and France.
  • Playbook for Advancing Resilient AI Infrastructure
  • Trusted AI Commons: Announced with 22 partner countries.

AI Impact Expo and Knowledge Outputs

A major highlight was the demonstration of an open-source handheld assistive device capable of:

  • Recognising objects and environments
  • Responding to voice queries
  • Supporting multiple languages

The prototype was developed by BHASHINI and Current AI and opened to the startup ecosystem for further innovation.

Release of Global AI Casebooks

Six casebooks showcasing AI applications in key sectors were released:

  • AI in Health – with the World Health Organization
  • AI in Energy – with the International Energy Agency
  • AI in Gender Empowerment – with UN Women
  • AI in Agriculture – with the Government of Maharashtra and support from the World Bank
  • AI in Education – with CSF and EkStep Foundation
  • AI in Accessibility – with ALIMCO, IIIT Bangalore and ChangeInkk Foundation

Additionally, the AI Impact Startup Book was released by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) highlighting India’s AI and deep-tech startup ecosystem.

Digital Adoption at Summit

Demonstrating grassroots digital adoption: Around 80% of food court transactions were conducted through Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
