India recently hosted the first-ever Regional Dialogue on Social Justice under the Global Coalition for Social Justice in New Delhi. The event coincided with the 74th Foundation Day of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), which was established on 24th February 1952.

The Asia-Pacific’s first Regional Dialogue on Social Justice, emphasizing the importance of social protection, labor rights, and fair work was orgasnised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Employers’ Federation of India (EFI), in collaboration with:
- Ministry of Labour and Employment
- International Labour Organization (ILO)
- Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC)
About Global Coalition for Social Justice
About: Launched in 2023 by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to address social justice deficits and accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Objectives:
- Promotes strong, sustainable, and inclusive development through global solidarity, policy coherence, and coordinated action.
- Advocates for decent work, social protection, responsible business conduct, and fair work practices.
- Encourages collaborative approaches among governments, businesses, financial institutions, and civil society.
· Membership:
- Open to governments, organizations, businesses, and academia committed to social justice and labor rights under UN and ILO principles.
- India is a member, and currently, the Global Coalition has around 340 members, including governments, academic institutions, private sector entities, and financial organizations.
