India-Netherlands $1 Billion Green Fuel Corridor Launched

AM Green (India), promoted by the founders of Greenko Group, has signed a strategic MoU with the Port of Rotterdam Authority (Netherlands) to establish a Green Fuel Corridor between India and Northwestern Europe.

The alliance aims to enable annual green fuel trade of up to 1 million tonnes, valued at approximately $1 billion, to support India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and Europe’s climate neutrality goals.

Key Highlights

Scope of Green Fuel Corridor

  • Trade Focus: Green Ammonia and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).  Green ammonia and SAF are critical fuels in the global transition to net-zero.
  • Annual Volume: 1 million tonnes
  • Target Value: $1 billion per year
  • Strategic Aim: Create a robust India-Europe green energy supply chain

MoU Details & Strategic Goals

  • Signed between: AM Green (India) & Port of Rotterdam Authority (Netherlands)
  • Purpose: Build a sustainable green hydrogen-based energy corridor
  • Connection: India’s green hydrogen clusters to Europe’s largest energy gateway– Port of Rotterdam
  • Focus Areas:
    • Green hydrogen and ammonia production
    • Bunkering fuel supply chain
    • Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) distribution
    • Terminal and logistics infrastructure in Rotterdam and Europe

This initiative aligns with:

  • India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, aiming to become a global hub for green hydrogen production and exports.
  • EU’s decarbonisation targets and transition to renewable energy.

AM Green’s Production Plan

  • Facility Location: Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh
  • Start of Production: Second half of 2026
  • Total Investment: ₹12,500 crore
  • Capacity Targets:
    • Green Ammonia: 5 million tonnes per annum (by 2030)
    • Green Hydrogen: 1 million tonnes per annum
  • Facility Composition:
    • Green hydrogen unit + ammonia conversion unit
    • Built in a repurposed urea plant acquired by AM Green

Export & Offtake Commitments

  • Confirmed buyers: Uniper, Yara, Keppel
  • Export Focus: Europe, beginning with first-phase exports from 2026
