The 2025 edition of the Indian Navy’s Theatre Level Operational Exercise (TROPEX) was conducted over a period of three months (January to March 2025) and successfully concluded in early March. The exercise helped validate key operational concepts and assess the Navy’s readiness to respond to maritime security challenges.
About TROPEX 2025
Exercise Components:
- AMPHEX (Amphibious Exercise): Focused on amphibious operations.
- Joint Work Up Phase: Emphasized the precise delivery of ordnance on target, integrating Cyber and Electronic Warfare capabilities.
- Tactical Phase: Tested complex, theatre-level scenarios.
Geographical Scope:
- Conducted in the Indian Ocean Region, covering the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal
- Extended approximately 4300 nautical miles (nm) from North to South up to 35° South Latitude.
- Spanned 5000 nm from the Strait of Hormuz in the West to the Sunda and Lombok Straits in the East.
Participation & Assets:
- Indian Navy: 65-70 warships, 9-10 submarines, and 80+ aircraft
- Indian Army: 600+ Infantry troops
- Indian Air Force: Sukhoi-30, Jaguar, C-130, Flight Refueller, and AWACS aircraft
