NABARD extends Record ₹5,830 Crore Assistance to Jharkhand

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) announced it extended record financial support of ₹5,830 crore to Jharkhand in FY 2024–25 to promote rural infrastructure, livelihoods, and financial inclusion.

Key Allocations & Beneficiaries

  • Total Assistance: ₹5,830 crore
  • Support to Banks: Jharkhand Rajya Gramin Bank and Jharkhand State Cooperative Bank received ₹2,143 crore
  • RIDF (Rural Infrastructure Development Fund): ₹1,988 crore disbursed for critical infrastructure projects

Major Projects & Interventions

  • Irrigation Projects: 2 Mega Lift Irrigation projects in Giridih and Palamu (28,500 ha irrigation potential)
  • Infrastructure Development:
    • 396 rural godowns and marketing centres
    • 211 rural bridges
    • 19 safe drinking water projects
  • Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs):
    • 244 FPCs promoted impacting 2 lakh+ farmers
    • 53 FPCs onboarded to ONDC for digital commerce access
  • Computerisation of PACS:
    • Phase I complete for 1,500 PACS (including 281 ePACS)
    • Remaining 2,871 PACS to be computerised in FY 2025–26

Tribal and Watershed Development

  • Tribal Projects:
    • 61 projects benefitting 40,000 tribal families
    • Focus: orchard-based livelihoods and sustainability
  • Watershed Development:
    • 51 projects across 58,500 hectares, aiding 50,000+ families
    • Enhancing climate resilience and agri-productivity
