NHAI Signs MoU with Commercial Vehicle Aggregator Platforms

The Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), a company promoted by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with commercial vehicle aggregator platforms. The MoU aims to improve the ease of commuting, safety, and efficiency for commercial vehicle drivers and fleet operators travelling on National Highways.

Highlights of Initiative

  • Objective: To use technology-driven and interoperable digital solutions to enhance road safety, driver experience and efficiency in highway operations.
  • Integration with Rajmargyatra App: Commercial vehicle aggregator platforms will integrate the Rajmargyatra App.
    • The integration will enable real-time safety alerts, including information about:
      • Accident-prone stretches
      • Traffic diversions
      • Construction zones
      • Presence of stray cattle
      • Adverse weather conditions.
    • Aggregator platforms will also promote voluntary user registration on the Rajmargyatra App and share periodic usage data and feedback.
  • Driver Feedback on Highway Services: The initiative also aims to enhance transparency in highway services
  • Road Safety Awareness Initiatives: The MoU also promotes responsible driving through highway safety awareness campaigns. Key behavioural messages will be shared through in-app engagement modules and awareness programmes.
  • Strengthening Emergency Response:
  • The aggregator platforms will also integrate the National Highway Helpline – “Call 1033.”
    • This integration will enable faster emergency response on highways.
Introduces “Jan Bhagidari – Driver-Led Reporting”:
  • It will enable drivers to actively report highway issues.
    • Drivers can submit geo-tagged reports on:
      • Potholes
      • Damaged crash barriers
      • Non-functional streetlights
      • Faded road markings
      • Unsafe roadside conditions.
  • These reports will be integrated into the Rajmargyatra ecosystem for centralized resolution.
Vishisht Saarthi Recognition Programme:
  • This new recognition initiative will be introduced.
    • Purpose: Encourage safe and responsible driving practices among commercial drivers.
    • Recognition: Drivers who demonstrate high compliance with National Highway safety norms will receive certificates and digital badges.
