PMGSY-III: Centre sanctions Rural Connectivity Projects in 4 States

Ministry of Rural Development has approved multiple projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana – Phase III (PMGSY-III) for Manipur, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. These projects aim to enhance last-mile connectivity, bridge the rural-urban divide, and create a foundation for Viksit Bharat. It will also give boost to rural infrastructure development and accelerate economic development.

Sanctions under PMGSY-III

Manipur:

  • 41 roads spanning 280.97 km sanctioned at a cost of Rs 225.15 crore.
  • Previously approved: 56 roads of 502.24 km, costing Rs 404.72 crore.

Mizoram:

  • 07 Long Span Bridges (LSBs) totalling 373.46 meters, with an investment of Rs 67.69 crore.
  • Previously approved: 17 roads of 487.50 km, worth Rs 562.70 crore.

Himachal Pradesh:

  • 21 LSBs measuring 970.77 meters, sanctioned at Rs 140.90 crore.
  • Previously approved: 299 roads (3,123.12 km) and 43 LSBs, costing Rs 3,345.82 crore.

Uttarakhand:

  • 09 LSBs totalling 246 meters, sanctioned at Rs 40.77 crore.
  • Previously approved: 212 roads (2,287.95 km) and 09 LSBs, worth Rs 1,865.34 crore.

The sanctioned works will:

  • Improve connectivity to healthcare, education, and markets.
  • Integrate remote and hilly regions with urban centres.
  • Boost economic activities, trade and tourism.
  • Generate employment opportunities in construction and allied sectors.
