Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV), under Union Ministry of Ayush, celebrated its 28th Convocation and Shishyopanayaniya Samskara in New Delhi. The event honored renowned Ayurvedic practitioners, accrediting key institutions, and unveiled significant educational initiatives to enhance Ayurvedic education and practice in India and globally.
Key Initiatives:
Revolutionizing Ayurveda Education: Two pioneering initiatives were launched to elevate the Ayurvedic education system:
Diplomate of National Board Ayurveda (DNB Ayurveda):
- Announced by Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, this program brings advanced training and standardization to Ayurvedic education, similar to DNB specializations in modern medicine.
7.5-Year Gurukul Schooling Program:
- Designed to revive the traditional Guru-Shishya learning model, this immersive program emphasizes hands-on training and authentic Ayurvedic wisdom.
Both programs aim to enhance credibility, rigor, and global recognition of Ayurvedic education while preserving its classical roots.
Honoring Guru-Shishya Parampara:
- Over 100 CRAV Gurus and 120 Shishyas were felicitated during the convocation.
- RAV’s Certificate of Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (CRAV) course is known for imparting authentic Ayurvedic education through direct training under experienced Gurus, ensuring the transmission of pure and practical Ayurvedic knowledge.
Lifetime Achievement Awards:
RAV honored four distinguished pioneers in Ayurveda with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their exceptional contributions to the field:
- Prof. Banwari Lal Gaur (Jaipur, Rajasthan)
- Prof. Kulwant Singh (Jammu and Kashmir)
- Vaidya Mohan Narayan Tambe (Satara, Maharashtra)
- Dr. Bidhubhusan Nanda (Dhenkanal, Odisha)
Accreditation of Ayurvedic Institutions:
In a landmark move, RAV accredited seven institutions (one international and six national) for maintaining the highest standards in Ayurvedic education and practice. This accreditation aims to:
- Globalize Ayurveda and align traditional principles with modern healthcare advancements.
- Enhance the credibility and quality of Ayurvedic training, benefiting both students and practitioners.
