The 75th Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra (PMDK) was inaugurated in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh by the Ministry of State for Social Justice & Empowerment. The centre will serve beneficiaries under two major schemes:
- ADIP Scheme (Assistance to Disabled Persons for purchase/fitting of Aids and Appliances)
- Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) for senior citizens
Key Highlights
Under the 75th PMDK, Free assistive devices to be provided includes- Tricycles, wheelchairs, artificial limbs, walkers, hearing aids, and mobility aids.
Impact:
- Over 1.40 lakh individuals have benefited so far.
- Devices worth ₹179.15 lakh distributed under PMDK across the country.
Objective:
- Aims to minimize logistical hurdles for PwDs and senior citizens by ensuring last-mile service delivery.
Significance
- Aligns with Accessible India Campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan) launched in 2015.
- Promotes social inclusion and economic empowerment of differently-abled individuals.
