Agnikawach Safety Solutions Pvt. Ltd. has launched Agnikawach™, described as India’s first indigenous AI-integrated process-safety and consequence-modelling platform.
The platform is designed to make advanced industrial safety technology more accessible, affordable and scalable, while also building the foundation for a comprehensive Indian safety-technology ecosystem.
The initiative is being spearheaded by INDRAX: Centre of Higher Sciences in Safety and Energy Solutions for a Self-Reliant India. It aligns with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
What is Agnikawach?
Agnikawach brings several advanced technologies together on a single safety platform, including:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- GPU-native computing
- Adaptive-mesh Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
- Cloud-based delivery
- Industrial risk and consequence modelling
The platform is positioned as the first of its kind globally to integrate these capabilities into a unified process-safety workflow.
Unlike conventional imported safety software, where different hazards may require separate and costly tools, Agnikawach aims to provide one integrated workflow for modelling eight major industrial hazards:
| Industrial Hazard | What it involves |
| Jet fire | High-pressure release of flammable material producing a directed flame |
| Pool fire | Burning of a pool of released flammable liquid |
| Flash fire | Rapid combustion of a flammable vapour cloud |
| Explosions | Sudden release of energy caused by explosive combustion or pressure effects |
| BLEVE/Fireball | Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapour Explosion accompanied by a fireball |
| Toxic dispersion | Spread of hazardous or poisonous substances through the atmosphere |
| Cryogenic releases | Hazards arising from the release of extremely cold substances |
| Structural domino effects | Escalation of an incident from one structure or facility to others |
Building an Indian Safety-Technology Ecosystem
A major objective of Agnikawach is to reduce India’s dependence on expensive imported consequence-modelling software.
The platform is being developed as a globally scalable technology platform rather than a conventional consulting product. It is based on 100% Indian intellectual property, offers cloud-based access and is intended to provide a significantly more affordable alternative to legacy safety platforms.
Its potential applications cover a wide range of hazardous and emerging industries, including:
- Aviation, Petrochemicals, Nuclear sector, Green hydrogen, Offshore and onshore operations, LNG, Energy storage, Natural gas, Refineries, Chemicals, Bioenergy, Fertilizers, Ammonia, Oil and gas, Defence
The wider vision is to create a connected safety ecosystem involving industries, MSMEs, universities, researchers, regulators, engineering institutions, emergency-response organisations, insurance companies and financial institutions.
Technology Architecture and Development Stage
Agnikawach uses a technology architecture combining:
- GPU-native computing for high-performance simulations.
- Adaptive Mesh Refinement (AMR) to improve computational resolution where required.
- AI-assisted workflows to support safety analysis.
- Cloud-first architecture for easier access and scalability.
- Open validation and verification to strengthen confidence in modelling results.
Its development has reached Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 5. A working GPU-native AMR-CFD prototype has already been developed and validated against benchmark cases.
The platform is supported by a multidisciplinary leadership and technology team with expertise in process safety, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), hydrogen safety, artificial intelligence and industrial risk modelling. It also has senior leaders and advisers associated with government bodies, public-sector undertakings (PSUs) and research and development institutions.
Why the Platform Matters
The initiative addresses a long-standing challenge in industrial safety: advanced consequence modelling has traditionally been dependent on high-cost imported software, limiting access for many organisations.
Agnikawach aims to shift safety analysis from being a specialised and expensive activity towards a more accessible national capability.
Its broader objective is to enable industries to:
- Simulate hazardous scenarios before accidents occur.
- Improve emergency preparedness and response planning.
- Support regulatory safety assessments.
- Strengthen decision-making for hazardous industrial operations.
- Enable safer deployment of emerging technologies, particularly new energy technologies.
The underlying philosophy is that industrial accidents should not simply be treated as unavoidable events; effective safety planning, hazard simulation and preparedness can significantly reduce their likelihood and consequences.
Long-Term Vision
Agnikawach ultimately aims to move India from relying primarily on “safety software” towards developing “safety infrastructure”– a nationally accessible technological capability that can support industries, regulators, researchers and emergency-response organisations.
This could strengthen India’s self-reliance in industrial safety technology while supporting safer growth across conventional energy sectors and emerging areas such as green hydrogen, ammonia and energy storage.
