Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate on biofuels, biomass utilisation, waste-to-resource solutions and circular economy initiatives.
The partnership aims to explore opportunities across the biofuels value chain, particularly Compressed Biogas (CBG).
Key Areas of Cooperation
The collaboration will cover:
- Feedstock assessment and biomass availability
- Biofuel supply-chain development
- Biomass and waste-resource management
- By-product utilisation
- Assessment of relevant technologies
- Pilot and demonstration projects
- Identification of potential carbon-credit opportunities from bioenergy projects
The organisations will also study the use of important biofuel by-products such as:
- Fermented Organic Manure (FOM)
- Digestate
- Bio-CO₂
- Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS)
The MoU provides a broad framework for cooperation and knowledge sharing. Specific projects will be implemented through separate agreements defining the responsibilities, scope and implementation mechanisms of both organisations.
