First Adolescent Girls’ Club under Mission Shakti launched in Nagaland

The first Adolescent Girls’ Club under Mission Shakti was launched at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Wokha, Nagaland in October 2024, with 50 adolescent girls as its founding members. These clubs are being established in both government and private schools, targeting girls aged 10 to 19 years.

Vision and Objectives of Adolescent Girls’ Club

Motto: “Live the Promise”

Vision: It aims to empower adolescent girls through education, health awareness, and leadership development. The initiative seeks to build confident, informed, and compassionate young leaders for the future.

Key Objectives:

1. Empowerment: Equip adolescent girls with skills, knowledge, and confidence to make informed life choices.
2. Education: Provide access to resources for academic excellence and life skills enhancement.
3. Health Awareness: Promote knowledge about reproductive health, substance abuse, mental well-being, and nutrition.
4. Leadership Development: Cultivate leadership skills through workshops and mentorship programs.
5. Social Well-being: Encourage community participation to foster responsibility and belonging.

About Mission Shakti

It is a flagship government initiative that focuses on the safety, security, and empowerment of women.

1. Sambal (Safety & Security of Women)

• One Stop Centre (OSC): Provides integrated support to women in distress.
• Women Helpline (WHL): 24/7 assistance for women in need.
• Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP): Focuses on gender equality and education for girls.
• Nari Adalat: Community-driven grievance redressal for women.

2. Samarthya (Women Empowerment)

• Ujjwala: Supports rehabilitation of trafficking survivors.
• Swadhar Greh: Provides shelter for destitute women.
• Working Women Hostel: Ensures safe accommodation for working women.
• National Creche Scheme: Supports working mothers by providing childcare facilities.
• Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY): Offers financial assistance to pregnant and lactating women.
