Indian Army Chief Inducted into US Army War College Hall of Fame

India’s Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi has been inducted into the International Hall of Fame of the U.S. Army War College. He becomes the third Indian Chief of Armed Forces to receive this honour after General V K Singh and General Bikram Singh. Notably, General Dwivedi is also an alumnus of the U.S. Army War College.

Key Highlights of Visit

During his official visit to the United States:

  • General Dwivedi addressed faculty and international officers, focusing on: Leadership, Evolving global security dynamics, Professional military education
  • He began his visit in Hawaii, where he was accorded a Guard of Honour at Fort Shafter, headquarters of the United States Army Pacific
  • He held discussions with General Ronald P. Clark and senior leaders on: Strengthening India–US defence cooperation and Advancing a shared vision for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
  • Undertook an aerial tour of Oahu island, gaining insights into: Training ecosystem and Multi-domain operational readiness
  • His visit follows recent US visits by: Air Chief Amar Preet Singh and Admiral Dinesh Tripathi. This reflects the continuity of high-level military-to-military engagement between India and the United States.

U.S. Army War College – International Fellows Hall of Fame

The International Fellows Hall of Fame was established in 1988 to recognise distinguished international graduates of the U.S. Army War College.

Eligibility Criteria: Inductees must-

  • Have attained the highest leadership positions in their nation’s armed forces
  • Or held equivalent senior roles in multinational organisations
  • Demonstrate significant contributions to international peace, security, or humanitarian efforts
  • Have served as a senior military leader in their respective services
