Indian Railways has unveiled a new 18-star logo following the operationalisation of the South Coast Railway (SCoR) zone as the 18th Zonal Railway in the country. The new zone became operational from June 1, 2026, and the revised logo has been officially approved by the Chairman of Railway Board (CRB).
The updated logo symbolises the expansion of Indian Railways’ zonal structure and reflects the addition of a new administrative unit to improve efficiency and regional connectivity.
South Coast Railway (SCoR): New Zonal Railway
The South Coast Railway (SCoR) has been constituted under Railways Act, 1989 (Section 3(4))
Formation
- Created by reorganising parts of: East Coast Railway and South Central Railway
- Headquarters: Visakhapatnam. Developed over 52.2 acres at Mudasarlova
Zonal Divisions under SCoR
The South Coast Railway zone comprises the following divisions:
- Guntakal Division
- Guntur Division
- Vijayawada Division
- Visakhapatnam Division (formerly part of Waltair Division)
- The new zone covers multiple states: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu
Waltair Division Restructuring
- The existing Waltair Division has been bifurcated:
- One part retained under East Coast Railway as Rayagada Division
- Remaining part forms Visakhapatnam Division under SCoR
