Samtel HAL Display Systems Limited (SHDS), a joint venture between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Samtel Avionics, inaugurated a new defence avionics manufacturing facility at Gurugram, Haryana.
The facility is aimed at strengthening indigenous defence avionics manufacturing and reducing India’s dependence on imported systems.
Facility Overview
- Location: Udyog Vihar, Phase IV, Gurugram, Haryana.
- Main objective: Indigenisation of defence avionics and reduction of import dependence.
- The facility will support:
- Design and development.
- Manufacturing.
- Testing and quality assurance.
- Product and lifecycle support.
- It will cater to airborne as well as ground-based applications.
Key Capabilities
- Dedicated testing and quality-assurance infrastructure for advanced display systems.
- Manufacturing of Multifunction Displays (MFDs) for fighter aircraft.
- SHDS displays are already operational on the Su-30MKI.
- Supports the complete product lifecycle, from development and manufacturing to product support.
