Urban Administration and Housing Development Department (UADD), Government of Madhya Pradesh, is developing what could become India’s first Unified Digital Property Registry Tracking Portal. The portal aims to provide citizens with a single online platform to access all properties registered in their name, while helping the government curb illegal colonies, improve transparency, and strengthen urban governance through end-to-end digital integration of property-related services.
Unified Digital Property Registry Tracking Portal
Unified Digital Property Registry Tracking Portal is an integrated digital platform that will create a single digital ecosystem for residential properties in Madhya Pradesh.
The portal will assign every residential property a unique digital property ID linked with Aadhaar or Samagra ID, enabling seamless tracking of ownership and property-related services throughout the property’s lifecycle. It is being developed by Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSEDC).
Key Highlights
- Colony Cell approval process will be fully digitised.
- Colonisers will be able to:
- Apply for approvals online.
- Track application status digitally.
- Receive permissions within fixed timelines.
- The portal is expected to improve accountability, transparency, and reduce administrative delays.
Targeting Illegal Colonies
One of the major objectives of the portal is to address the rapid growth of unauthorised (illegal) colonies in Madhya Pradesh.
Important Statistics
- 7,981 illegal colonies were identified across Madhya Pradesh in 2016.
- Out of these, 3,155 were located within 16 Municipal Corporations.
- Officials now estimate that the number has crossed 30,000 illegal colonies across the state.
- Bhopal alone has more than 800 illegal colonies, compared to 320 identified about a decade ago.
The integrated digital database is expected to strengthen monitoring, improve regulatory oversight, and help prevent the development of unauthorised colonies.
Property Services Integrated Under Portal
The Unified Digital Property Registry Tracking Portal will integrate services from multiple departments into a single digital platform, including:
- Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA)
- Town and Country Planning (T&CP)
- Building Permission System
- E-Nagarpalika
- Sampada 2.0 Registry Records
This integration will create a unified digital property database for efficient property management and governance.
Implementation Plan
Pilot Phase
After development is completed (expected within one to two months), pilot projects will begin in major municipal corporations where online building permission systems are operational or under implementation, including:
- Indore
- Bhopal
- Gwalior
Statewide Expansion: Following successful pilot implementation, the portal will be expanded to all 413 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across Madhya Pradesh.
