The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has expanded the eligibility criteria of the pilot phase of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) to include final-year students of graduate and postgraduate programmes. The decision was formalized in consultation with the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education.
New Eligibility Conditions
- Final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students are now eligible to apply under PMIS
- Applicants must continue to meet existing eligibility criteria (age: 18–25 years)
- Students must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their institution confirming that participation will not interfere with academic requirements
- Authorized NOC signatories: Heads of Department, Deans, Principals, or Training & Placement Officers

- The expansion advances India’s National Education Policy (NEP) goals of experiential learning, student employability, and skill development- embedding real-world learning into the academic journey and ensuring smoother transitions from education to work.

- PMIS is a flagship initiative providing structured, paid internship opportunities to youth across the country.
- Key features include a minimum financial assistance of ₹9,000 per month and internships across sectors in top companies.
- More than 300 companies have participated in the pilot phase.
