Uttar Pradesh Launches ‘RISE’ App for Digital Monitoring of Immunisation Programme

Uttar Pradesh Government has launched ‘Rapid Immunisation Skill Enhancement’ (RISE) app to digitally monitor routine vaccinations among children. The app will be used by nurses, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), and health workers engaged in the state’s immunisation programme.

Key Highlights of RISE Initiative

1. Digital Monitoring & Real-Time Updates

The app aims to digitally track child vaccinations and enhance training for health workers, ensuring timely immunisation.

Health workers will receive instant updates on new vaccination guidelines, technologies, and best practices to improve efficiency.

The existing training system often causes delays in updating health workers, whereas the RISE app ensures rapid and direct information dissemination.

2. Capacity Building & Digital Training for Health Workers

The app will provide structured digital training to:

  • Staff nurses
  • Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs)
  • Health visitors

Training will focus on:

  • Monitoring vaccination programmes
  • Managing immunisation sessions
  • Ensuring vaccine safety and cold chain management
  • Handling adverse effects post-vaccination (AEFI)

3. Structured Training Modules & Certification

The training programme is divided into five modules, covering different aspects of immunisation.

Trainers who complete their training through the app will train vaccinators every 15 days.

Evaluation Process:

  • Health workers will undergo pre- and post-training assessments.
  • Gold Certificate- Awarded to those scoring 85-100%.
  • Silver Certificate- Given to those scoring 70-85%.

4. Improving Vaccination Coverage & Outreach

Health workers will be trained to track and counsel vaccine-hesitant families, ensuring higher immunisation coverage.

The initial focus is on training block-level officers, followed by vaccinators across the state.

Once fully implemented, the initiative will benefit 52,175 vaccinators, enhancing immunisation efficiency statewide.

5. Expansion After Successful Pilot Phase

The RISE app was first introduced as a pilot project in 181 districts across India, proving to be highly effective.

Following its success, the programme has been scaled up to all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, with district-level officer training completed.

By integrating digital monitoring and real-time training, the RISE app aims to revolutionise immunisation tracking, improve vaccination rates, and enhance healthcare efficiency across Uttar Pradesh.
