India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), a 100% Government of India-owned entity under Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, has launched a Self Help Group (SHG) Savings Account aimed at promoting financial inclusion and empowering women-led SHGs in rural India.
Leveraging the extensive postal network and digital capabilities, IPPB seeks to enhance financial access through doorstep banking services and digital onboarding, supported by postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks.

The SHG Savings Account is a dedicated, zero-cost banking solution designed specifically for Self Help Groups, aligning with national goals of inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods.
SHGs play a crucial role in rural economic transformation and are closely linked with initiatives such as National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) under Ministry of Rural Development and programmes supported by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
